Travelocity Launches 'Top Secret' Hotels But Can It Compete With Priceline?

I have long been a fan of 'masked' hotel booking sites like Hotwire and Priceline. If you are unfamiliar with the term, that's how it works. Before making a reservation, you are given some information about the book at you, but not all of the information. Usually, you know the general vicinity of the hotel, and star rating. In the case of Hotwire, they also get a list of hotel amenities such as swimming pools, on-site restaurant, transfer to the airport, and so on. If you like the price, you can make a reservation, and then learn the hotel name and specific location.

This is not for everyone. If you think you might want to cancel your reservation, do not bother using this site, such as grants most of the time. Also, if you want to join your friends or colleagues in a hotel, do not use the 'masked' hotel reservation service. But if you are somewhat flexible on location and believes his plans will not change, then these services are great. I've been using this site for several years and save a lot of money in the process.

Travelocity is the latest to offer a "masked" with a hotel booking service called Top Secret Hotels. Top Secret Hotel is actually offered on their site for some 3 or 4 months, but I wanted to let them work the kinks before using it and write a review.

To find out firsthand if Top Secret Travelocity Hotel was as good as the competition, and I could save up to 45%, have used their services for the upcoming 2-night trip to San Francisco. My approach was simple: I would perform the same search at Priceline, Hotwire and Travelocity (using regular and secret book). My results were quite disappointing:
